How to Clean LVP Flooring

December 01, 20231 min read

Introduction:

Due to its combination of aesthetic appeal, durability, and ease of maintenance, Luxury Vinyl Plank (or Tile) has become a popular choice for flooring in many applications. Unfortunately, life happens...and your beautiful floors may require a good buffing/polishing. To perform a thorough, detailed cleaning of your floors, follow the steps below:

  1. Dry sweep and/or vacuum the entire floor area. This is critical, since using any machine on hard flooring with dry dirt or sediment will create scratches in your flooring.

  2. Lightly mop with neutral cleaner. Make sure the surface is ready and prepped.

  3. The remaining steps will require you to rent a low speed buffer, or hire a profession (such as Clean Spritz)

  4. Choose a buffer pad to be used. It is recommended that you start with the least aggressive pads, and move to more aggressive pads if needed. In general, the lighter the pad...the less aggressive it is.

  5. Lightly spray a neutral cleaner as you use the buffer, overlapping each stroke.

  6. Once finished with a buffing pad, follow up the process using a cotton bonnet.

  7. Lightly mop the floor again with a neutral cleaner.

If you are in the Denver or Colorado Springs areas, we'd be happy to discuss the process with you...or take care of cleaning your floors.
